Play SpellStack in your browser — no install needed
SpellStack is a casual word puzzle where you drop letters, merge them into words, and rack up points. Until now you could only play it on iOS. As of this week there’s a full browser version at hol4b.com/spellstack — open the link and you’re already playing.
How it works in 30 seconds
- Tap an empty square to place the next letter.
- Drop a letter on top of another to merge them (T + E = TE).
- Only prefixes of real English words can merge. TX isn’t the start of anything, so it bounces.
- When a tile turns green, it’s a valid word — tap it to collect.
- Longer words score way more. The formula is letters² × 10: TEA = 40 pts, QUEEN = 250 pts, QUARTZ = 360 pts.
It’s one of those games where a round lasts a minute but you keep wanting one more try.
What you get in the browser version
This isn’t a trailer or a teaser — it’s the full game, same rules as the iOS app. What the web build has:
- The complete game with the same mechanics as iOS
- Personal best tracking, saved on your device
- Invite code to bring friends in (yours shows up on the home screen)
- Score sharing via a clean share card
What I deliberately kept out of the browser version, to keep the first impression clean:
- No ads. Ever. Your browser is your first impression of SpellStack, and I didn’t want to wreck it.
- No account, no sign-up. Just play.
- No tracking. No Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no pixel — nothing. Scores live in your own browser.
Out of plays? Here’s how to get more
The browser build comes with a daily play budget. When you run out, you have two ways to top up:
- Invite a friend → +2 plays (up to a daily cap)
- Share your score → +1 play
Both buttons show up on the end-of-game screen:
